Ullen Sentalu, Javanese Culture and Art Museum
Located on Jl. Boyong in the Upper Ground area of Yogyakarta, this Sentalu Ullen initiated in 1994 and inaugurated on March 1, 1997, which is a historic date for the city of Yogyakarta. The inauguration of the museum conducted by KGPAA Paku Alam VIII, the Governor at that time. By ownership, private museum was initiated Haryono families of Yogyakarta and is under the umbrella of the Foundation Ulating Blencong.

The existence Ullen Sentalu located in the tourist area of this Ground can not be separated by Kaswargan Park located one area with historic sites Kaliurang, as Pesanggrahan Hastorenggo built Sultan Hamengkubuwono VII (1877 – 1921) and Pensions held a place Kaliurang Three Bargaining Committee State during the Revolution of Independence (1945-1949). This museum is one of the Javanese culture of art museums in the region of Yogyakarta Special Region. Noting the fact that in the 1970′s many ancient batik hunted by foreign collectors, creates a feeling of concerned family who later founded the Foundation Ullen Sentalu with the aim of saving the ancient batik-batik. That effort received a positive response from the four relatives of Mataram Dynasty, they were even willing to be a protective foundation, among others, Sri Paduka Paku Alam VIII (Pengageng Pura Paku Alaman 1937-1998), Sunan Pakubuwono XII (King Kasunanan Surakarta Sultanate from 1945 to 2004), Ratu Gusti Alit Kanjeng KGPH Poeger (uncle of Sri Sultan HB X King Ngayogyakarta 1989 – present), and Gray Nurul Kusumawardhani (Princess Consort Sri Mangkunegara VII). Through relatives Ullen Sentalu this court awarded a grant in the form of personal items of batik cloth, accessories, photographs, manuscripts and stories about life inside the palace.
Building the museum is dominated by beautiful architecture commonly referred to as In Tea Field Architecture is the overall concept of building a natural harmony with the environment. Originator of the concept of architecture is Ullen Sentalu DR. KP. Samuel Widyadiningrat. Ullen Sentalu has two main buildings, namely Guwa Selo Giri (catacomb) and Village Kambang (complex of buildings above the pond water). The village is made up of buildings Kambang Bale Kedaton Sekar, Pendapa Bridal Style Yogya, Living Style Batik Yogya and Surakarta, Space coastal batik and Space Princess Quest. Museum collections are stored in Guwa Selo Giri and Kampung Kambang, whether it be painting, batik fabrics, manuscripts and so forth. Other facilities that support the museum include: parks, Art Shop, Gallery, Restaurant, guide.
